What are the merchant requirements for a performance marketing program on Pepperjam Network?

To launch a program on Pepperjam Network, merchants must first apply and meet various criteria prior to being accepted. Prior to launch, each merchant must also pay a launch fee. Each program needs to have creatives to advertise their products or services in the form of banners, text links, advanced links, coupons or product links. Following the launch of the program, merchants must also meet a monthly minimum to payout publisher commissions or pay a monthly minimum fee if the threshold is not reached.

What types of commission structures does Pepperjam Network allow?

Pepperjam Network allows both lead and revenue share payouts. In a lead payout, the merchant pays a flat payout for each referred lead. In a revenue share, the affiliate earns a commission that is a percentage of the referred sale. Many merchants successfully run both a revenue share and flat payout within the same program.

Can I add different commission structures and levels?

Yes, Pepperjam Network allows merchants to create tiered commission structures as an incentive or as a reward to the publishers.

What kinds of communication tools exist so I can reach out to publishers?

Pepperjam Network offers a multitude of new and exciting tools to allow merchants the opportunity to reach out to publishers. Merchants can use the Pepperjam Chat feature and the built-in email functionality, along with having access to publisher contact information.

How are sales tracked, and how does Pepperjam Network know which publisher to pay for a transaction?

Pepperjam Network uses a cookie-based tracking system that passes along the unique information used in the transaction by the customer, including the merchant and publisher name, along with the order ID, and transaction amount.

How are payments made to publishers in my program?

Publisher payments are handled through an Escrow Account that is funded by each merchant, and Pepperjam Network transfers the funds to the publishers through a third party payment company.

How does Pepperjam Network get paid?

All merchants pay Pepperjam Network a transaction fee based on a percentage of the publisher commissions earned.

How do I recruit publishers?

Merchants have access to a simple and user friendly recruiting tool that allows them to search for publishers based on category, promotional method, geographic location and transparency rating, among others.

Will I have control over my program and know who is promoting me?

Yes! You will have access to all publishers in your program and what creative message you are disseminating to them. We understand that controlling your program and your brand is important. We give you access to be able to control all of that.

How does Pepperjam Network ensure brand protection?

Pepperjam Network’s Quality Team monitors all traffic on the network and ensures that the activity of the publishers on Pepperjam Network is in compliance with the terms and conditions of each program. During the launch phase, a Pepperjam Network account representative will assist you in determining the terms for your program in an effort to best represent your brand to the publishers.

Can I upload a data feed on Pepperjam Network?

Merchants creating a product feed (or data feed file) will host the file on their end and supply Pepperjam Network with the location, which will be uploaded to the interface. How long does it take for a performance marketing program to become successful?

Pepperjam Network promotes each new merchant to help it get started and recruit publishers into their program. It takes approximately 3-6 months to ramp up a program and approximately 1 year to be considered fully mature. However, Pepperjam Network can only provide merchants with the tools needed to manage their accounts. The program’s success depends on how well the campaign is managed, how much the merchant promotes and recruits for the program, and how much effort is put into learning Pepperjam Network.

How do publishers join the Pepperjam Network?

Click here to submit an application to become a publisher on Pepperjam Network. Each application is thoroughly reviewed by the Pepperjam Network Quality team. A decision is usually made within 24 – 48 hours, and you will receive confirmation via e-mail.

How much does it cost to become a publisher on Pepperjam Network?

It’s FREE. There is no cost associated with becoming a publisher on Pepperjam Network.

What is a commission?

A commission is a publisher’s earned payment for referring a qualified sale or a lead. Publishers on Pepperjam Network can earn a percentage of the sale or a flat payout, subject to the merchant offer.

How do I earn commissions?

Publishers earn commissions by referring sales or leads to the merchants through the use of Pepperjam Network tracking links. Every time a publisher refers a valid sale or lead, they will earn a commission.

What is the threshold for Pepperjam Network publisher payments?

The minimum payout for all payments is $25.00.

How do Pepperjam Network publishers get paid?

Publishers can choose to be paid by check, direct deposit or wire transfer (For non-U.S. publishers). Payments are made twice a month, on 1st and the 15th.

How do I partner with merchants on Pepperjam Network?

Once your application has been approved and you are active in Pepperjam Network, publishers have the opportunity to apply to all public programs on the PJN platform. It is up to each merchant to review and accept individual publisher applications.

What types of links do merchants provide in Pepperjam Network?

Merchants provide publishers through Pepperjam Network with text links, banner ads, Pepperjam Ads™, and coupons. They can also provide advanced link types, such as data feeds, customized search boxes and email creative.

How can I keep track of my sales?

Publishers use Pepperjam Network’s industry leading reporting and analytics to track clicks, sales, conversion rates, total commissions, as well as several others metrics used to accurately and efficiently manage your business.

What educational resources are offered to publishers through PJN?

What is a CPA/CPL performance-based marketing campaign?

In a performance marketing campaign, a publisher receives a flat commission payout for generating a transaction for a lead or a sale, for a merchant that the publisher is promoting. The merchant provides its ads to publishers and assigns a payout for each action. Publishers place the tracking code for these ads on their Web sites or in search listings. Whenever a visitor uses these links to generate an action on the merchant’s site, that transaction is tracked online. If a product or service is purchased from the merchant, the publisher is paid a flat payout for that transaction.

What is Lead Generation? Cost-Per-Lead (CPL)?

In CPL campaigns, merchants pay for qualified, interested leads— i.e. the contact information of a person interested in the merchant’s product or service. In CPL campaigns, consumers submit only contact information; the transaction can be as simple as an email address or as complex as a multi-page membership acquisition campaign. Once the user’s information is submitted the merchant pays a flat commission payout to the Publisher who drove the user to the merchant’s site.

What is a Cost-Per-Action (CPA)?

In CPA campaigns, the merchant only pays for a completed sale typically involving a credit card transaction. Similar to a CPL campaign, once the user completes the desired action the merchant will pay a flat commission payout to the Publisher who drove the user to the merchant’s site.

What is a commission?

A flat commission or also commonly called a flat payout is an amount of monetary compensation received by a publisher for an action such as selling a merchant’s product and/or service or generating a lead. With a sale, a merchant pays a publisher a flat rate or percentage of the sale price when a purchase is made on the merchant’s Web site. With a lead action, a merchant pays a publisher a flat rate for each visitor the publisher refers to the merchant’s site that signs up for a service or fills out a form. Many merchants also successfully run a sale and lead program within the same campaign..

Can I add different flat commission payout levels/tiers?

Different commission structures and levels can be used on the Pepperjam Network. You can use different levels or tiers with your flat commission payout structurs.

How are sales tracked?

Sales/Leads are tracked through Pepperjam Network with a combination of our pixel tracking solution and cookie tracking. By using both we ensure that all sales are attributed correctly and tracked properly through the network.

Will I have control over my campaign and know who is promoting me?

Yes! You will have access to all publishers in your campaign and what creative message you are disseminating to them. Being a part of the Pepperjam Network means you get access to everyone in your campaign. We understand that controlling your campaign and in turn your brand is important. We give you access to be able to control all of that.

How do I recruit publishers?

Within the PJN interface, merchants have access to a simple and user friendly recruiting tool that allows you the ability to search for publishers. Our Recruit Partners tool allows merchants to recruit publishers into their campaign by category, promotional method, geographic location, transparency rating, etc. to partner with publishers who best fit their vertical.

How are payments made to publishers in my campaign?

Pepperjam Network handles all publisher payments through an Escrow Account. Merchants deposit funds into the Escrow Account, located in the interface, and Pepperjam Network transfers the funds to the publishers through a 3rd party payment company.

How does Pepperjam Network get paid?

All merchants will pay Pepperjam Network a transaction fee, based on a percentage of the publisher commissions earned.

PJN’s Network Quality team monitors all traffic on Pepperjam Network.
