I am a person who has always had a love for marketing.  I’m actually the person turning up the radio to hear a commercial, I rarely forward past commercials on my DVR and reading a magazine for the ads is my driving force for picking up the magazine in the first place.  Yeah, I guess you can say I’m a marketing junkie. 

As a marketing professional, I think pay-per-click marketing has always been my favorite channel.  It is so specific, and yet can be so diverse in strategies and tactics.  I could literally write an entire post about why I love PPC.

Despite my long history of PPC passion, some days even my daily tasks of reporting, ad copy changes, adding keywords and adjusting bids and rules can become a bit mundane.  Today, smack in the middle of adjusting a PPC campaign, I discovered something shocking.  I, Tara Siegel love Facebook ads!

Reason’s I <3 Facebook ads:

Different ads for different demographics, interests, likes, etc.

• If you have a client, or are a brand with multiple levels of demographics this is your marketing team’s dream. You can literally choose who you want to view your ad. Not only can you create an ad that will resonate with said demographic but you can then have a picture in the ad of what product you know that demographic purchases most.So imagine you are a clothing brand selling tween clothes; you can now have one ad for the tweeny facebookers and another for the mother looking to purchase for the tweenager.

Reach vs. Impressions

• Most of us PPC people are total data junkies, and the term impressions is always a bit bothersome. For me, that is because an impression takes into account page reloads that could be a result of ‘backs’, a page refresh and the cat that attacks the keyboard the minute we walk away from the laptop.  However, Facebook has this issue all figured out.Facebook’s version of Reach: With Facebook ads, ‘Reach’ is the number of people who actually viewed the ad, not the number of times the ad is viewed.

Social Reach vs. Campaign Reach

• Social vs. Campaign digs even deeper into the reach by telling you not only how many people viewed your ad but if they had that fancy “your friend likes this site”. And we all know if your friends do it you are more likely to do it too

Scheduled Reporting

• There are fewer thing’s I like more than coming to work with a fresh cup of coffee and all of my reports waiting for me in my inbox. The advantages to automated reporting are countless. The time saved with automatic reporting is priceless (and free)
