Appearance on WebmasterRadio with Jeremy Schoemaker
Jeremy Schoemaker gave me a call yesterday about two hours before the first show of his second season on WebmasterRadio.fm to invite me on as his guest. We talked about a range of issues, including upcoming internet marketing conferences (Elite Retreat, SEODays, SEO Class, ecomXpo, SES - NY), ringtone controversies, BumpZee, affiliate search arbitrage focused on TV Shows (i.e. American Idol) and seasonality / holidays (i.e. tax season, Easter) and much more.
In my opinion the show was very solid and in his second season Jeremy is a seasoned radio show host.

[…] Show Mentions » Posted on March 14th, 2007» Filed under Affiliate Marketing, bumpzee No comments Last night, Jeremy and Kris Jones kicked off the second season of the NetIncome show. Jeremymentioned they may change the name of the show to the Shoemoney show. I can see why Darin (WMR.fm owner) may want to keep the show names generic. Afterall, if Jeremy left, you can’t exactly have Dave Naylor hosting the Shoemoney show. But, in my opinion, Shoemoney is a brand that will bring in the listeners even more. […]

Hi Kris,
I learned that the lack of comments to a blog posts that is a rant can only mean one of two things.
1) People have no clue what you are talking about or you don’t know what you are ranting about. Short, one does not understand the other and it does not matter who missed what.
2) The only other thing it can mean is that you spelled something out in plain English without beating around the push that everybody knows about or suspected it, but never dared to talk about for a number of reasons.
When it comes to placing a bet what the silence means after your show with Jeremy, which I listened to a bit late (today), I am going “all in” and bet it on option 2.
Its funny though, because it showed me how “new” Jeremy is to affiliate marketing (what is it now, 2 years or so?).
1. from whom the ring tone tolls
I am sure that Shawn was not involved in whatever happened there which does not even get my blood going, because I have seen much worse (just as a side note). That his partner and affiliate summit co-founder is also a partner at CPA empire is not a secret, but yes, a conflict of interest. The best thing Shawn probably can do is stay publicly out of this, support clarification in the background and only come out and get involved publicly when there are hard facts to disprove or to clarify, not to explain things or express opinion. Time for that will come later.
2. affiliate marketing a cut throat industry
you betcha, but it got better. I would say that I don’t think any seasoned veteran in this industry (regardless of “the side” they were or are on) exists who did not at least once something you could consider “gray” or “fishy” to say the least. The problem is that there is money to be made by more than one side by doing it (or not doing something). It’s like Google and MFA sites. It’s gray and fishy, but… well, who am I talking to hehe. I had my rant about this topic last year. See this post.
3. Google and Affiliates
oh, the “love” goes far beyond ppc. Did you see my post from earlier this month at SEJ? This here is the edited version. The note at the end points to the original post and initial comments.
Well, overall good show
Keep it up
Cheers!
Carsten

Correction regarding Missy: she WAS involved with CPA Empire. I did not know that they departed and went separate ways last year.
