Stuck in Chicago after SES
The fact that SES - Chicago (aka, the ice cube) was booked for early December…the most crucial time of the year for e-commerce and a better-than-likely time for bad weather, is bewildering to me. If I sound a bit bitter it’s no offense to Danny Sullivan, the SEM rock star who hosted a very solid SES - Chicago; instead, my “bitterness” comes from the fact that I’m sitting at the O’hare airport at 5:45a.m. the day after I..and Mike…and Shawn…were supposed to arrive home.
Delay after delay, cancellation after delay….we just couldn’t get a flight home yesterday being that there were apparently stronger-than-normal “Chicago winds” coupled with a wintery storm that was moving slowing through the midwest. Anyway, we are here waiting for our 6:15a.m. boarding on a flight to Allentown, PA…fortunately (fingers crossed), it looks like the flight is on-time. The only two slight pains-in-the-butt are that (1) Allentown was not supposed to be our final destination airport and therefore requires us to have a driver from the pepperplex pick us up and (2) our luggage (hopefully) arrived last night at our destination airport in Scranton, PA…once again, fingers crossed.
Anyway, once we get back and situated I intend to upload a few hundred picks from SES - Chicago. We got some candid shots of many of our industry friends and we did a solid job covering most of the sessions and all of the parties.

That sucks Kris,
I remember it from last year. All I had was my windbreaker and a silk Aloha shirt. I was freezing my ass off. (I stayed home this time)
They should have the winter conference out here in Hawaii. SES Waikiki!
Oh Yeah! You know you would go to that one!
Aloha,
Dave.

I would be very supportive - Maybe we can lobby Danny Sullivan to have his new conference, Search Marketing Expo, in Hawaii? Seriously, Chicago was like a big ice cube - I can’t figure out why Affiliate Summit would be held in Florida in July and SES would be in Chicago in December…these conferences are way too successful for the explanation to be money.
Were you in Chicago - didn’t see you there?

No… I couldn’t make it this year.
I should have just went anyway. I was even invited by the SEOfangirl to attend her pizza party. I seriously missed out on that one. I’ve never seen such a high concentration of Search Marketing talent in one room before.
I’ve been reading this blog since I met you in San Jose. You post some good stuff. I also like the videos. Keep up the good work.
Aloha,
Dave.
